July Mini Mixtape: Eternal Sunshine

I think the best summarization of this playlist is a quote from the very first song: “why does the apocalypse just make me wanna fuck?” This one’s not for the prudes and is definitely the steamiest playlist I’ve put out so far. I organized this one in such a way that it tells a bit of a story. How it ends, however, I’m going to leave up to you to decide. Let’s get into it.

We set the stage with a song about a woman learning to love her body (while thinking about someone else’s…) with Nudes in My Bedroom. The next few songs tell us more about the person she’s thinking about…

She has this persistent crush, but unfortunately for our protagonist, her crush isn’t giving her much of anything. No matter what she does or what move she makes, they just won’t budge. In “Picture You” and “Stupid Song” the emotions reach their peak. She allows herself to feel her feelings a little while longer as she waits.

Next up, we arrive at “Dancing on the Wall,” where our main character shows some self-awareness over how lopsided the situation is. This person is giving her nothing, so why can’t she just move on? Finally, in “AIN’T U TIRED” she realizes it’s up to them to push the plot forward… but will they ever?

Now is the part where you get to decide whether she gets the person her heart desires, or if perhaps that dream is replaced with a new one… Does her crush finally stop being avoidant and shifty and confess that they’ve been feeling all of these feelings too, or does she finally learn that all this energy she’s been putting toward this situation was wasted all along? Perhaps someone new comes along and sweeps her off her feet and makes her wonder why she ever wanted that other person in the first place. She deserves more than that, doesn’t she?

No matter which route you choose, however, the one decision I’ve made for you is that she’s definitely getting laid. So, for the rest of the playlist, beginning with “When Did You Get Hot?” we follow the steps from initial attraction to heated romance. Enjoy, I’ll let you tell the rest of the story <3
